The Smith Family lived in 6 Hazelwood Crescent. The family consisted of Bill and Harriet (Topsy), Lorraine, Heather and Dawn (the twins) and Kevin. Soon after this picture was taken the Smiths moved to Bogong. Bill Smith was an Electrical Engineer and worked on the Kiewa Hydro Electric Project. While in Bogong the family joined the Bogong Ski Club, All the family members became very proficient snow Skiers, with Kevin excelling. Kevin became one of Australia's top junior downhill and slalom skiers. Kevin was selected as a member of Australia's Winter Olympics training squad, however, did not continue with his Skiing as the family returned to the Latrobe Valley (at the completion of the Kiewa Project) in the earlier part of the 1960's. Kevin then turned his attention to playing football. Kevin played for some years with Yallourn Football Club (even though the family lived in Buckley Street in Morwell). Kevin initially played with the 3rds (under Joe Carmody), and then progressed to play a number of seasons with the Seniors. Kevin played most of his Senior Football on the wing ( Fred Debono -played on the other wing at the same time). I believe that Kevin also represented the Latrobe Valley on at least one occasion. Fred Debono's sister Nina and Lorraine Smith were great friends and they both spent time living in Canada (they worked for an Airline). These days Lorraine lives in the Airport West area (she married Klaus ???). Heather married Steve Blanch and lives in the Waverley area in Melbourne . Dawn married Howard Jensen and lives in Cape Patterson. Kevin married Zana Flood, but is a single man these days and lives with his mother in San Remo . Bill Smith died in the early 2000's.
Heather Norden married a Fitzroy footballer - Bruce Baker. They had two children - Michelle and David, and live in Heather's grandmother's house in Canterbury, Melbourne.
