Planners moved from 23 Hillside to this house - late 1960's ( I think). Newtons lived opposite. He was a car salesman at the holden dealers and raced cars, I think, she was a teacher at the high school. Can't remember the names.

Hi Sally...yes I remember Mrs Newton as a teacher and she was also a student of YHS back in 1953...she has also been a member of YOGA since the beginning but sadly doesn't come to any reunions...Julie

Mary Bennett was a wonderful Home Economics teacher, and I think 1B Form Teacher. She married Alan Newton, who worked as a car salesman at Foster Motors. It was Mary Newton (Bennett) who told me of the typist's job at Foster Motors. I took over from I think Margaret ? She was three years higher than me. Her mother worked at the Kiosk at Yallourn Bus Stop. I am grateful to Mary Newton for instilling in me the importance of good quality food. "Never buy rubbish", as Mrs. Newton would say. Her butcher, not Wilson's, the other one, opposite the electrical shop, knew if the meat was for Mrs. Newton, it had to be the best.
