Seeing Barrie Slade's photo brings back memories of his penchant for high speed.

He had a speedometer fitted to his pushbike and starting off at the top of Coach Road he would hurtle down the hill at top speed and run the gauntlet across the highway into Newborough. I'm not aware as to whether he had any close shaves. His best top speed to my knowledge was around 63 MPH.
