A bus ticket from Yallourn Passenger Service PTY LTD, Prop. A.Maxwell. Date unknown but dad said that Mr Maxwell started the very first passenger service for Yallourn residents and was eventually taken over by Latrobe Valley Bus Service? I don't know what the "Renwick Pride" refers to at the bottom of the ticket?? I'm guessing that the 1920's truck/bus pictured at the Yallourn Railway Station in one of the pix may have been Mr Mawell's? I wonder if people can access or do a search of old companies that were PTY LTD?

My Mother remembers Maxfields
My Mother remembers Maxfields well, I think she said they lived in Southway. The daughter Sheila (I think) and my Mother were friends. Mum said that there were two Bus services in Yallourn. Maxfields and Hardacres. Maxfields was the first one owned by a Yallourn Resident. Hardacres was owned and operated from Morwell, and apparently they were often at 'loggerheads' over the Bus services in the Town.

Thats Ok Wayne - the daughter's name was Shirley not Sheila. According to Mum the rivalry was quite agressive, to the extent that they sometimes used to try and force each other off the road. Hardacres lived in a double story house -half way up the hill on the left as you enter Morwell on the old Princes Highway. The house is still there.
