When Geraldine was 17 years old they moved to 8 Tanjil Place. A Split Level Home which they loved. My parents won the "Home Beautiful Gardens Award " on a number of occasions. While we were there my brother who had long finished his Electrical Apprenticeship joined British Petroleum as 1st Officer on a Tanker, and while in the Navy attained his Mechanical and Electrical Degrees. Plenty of time to study while at sea. He also attained a Shipping Pilot's Qualifications.
My parents moved to 8 Tanjil Place in 1946, Salaried Staff were moved into this new section on the Hill. My understanding was that Dad was Coal Production Superintendant at that time. His death was untimely as his aorta burst and it was irreparable at that time (in a few show years it would have been replaced with Dacron or Terylene aortas). After 11 and 1/2 weeks in Geelong hospital S. E. C. Head Office converted a car to return him to Yallourn. After a night in his own home, he was taken to Yallourn Hospital where he died in 1964.

After the death of Gerald Sutton in 1964, Iris moved to 55 Parkside
