Next door were the Fankhauser's (Les & Marj, Lesla, Helen (dec) and Alan). Helen and I played a lot of sport together including footy and cricket with Bruce and the other neighbourhood boys. We were even picked in the cricket team against the Coach Road mob. We built cubby houses in the bush behind Hazelwood Crescent and even cooked girl guide meals. This stopped suddenly when we reached that age!! Tanjil Place was a great place for sport as few vehicles used that road. The area down front was also great for kids. I remember we built a bonfire for Guy Fawkes Night and all the neighbourhood were there. As 2 Tanjil Place had been chosen by our family before fencing went up, our corner block was much larger than the rest. As you can see from the photos, different levels were constructed. We believe 2 Tanjil Place was the last residence to be moved - it served as an office. Pam remembers the "Outlook" Rd especially as her only bike had bad brakes and she had a few spills going down the hill. She preferred to use Heather Grove and Strzelecki Rd. However, we used to "linger" going home from High School at Latrobe Ave waiting for the buses (no, the boys!!) coming from the Tech School. One of those was the trailer bus and little did I know that, when we moved to Morwell when our father transferred to the Morwell Open Cut, I would have to travel on that bus. I was bus captain in 6th Form and for the first week, we had 112 schoolies on board, instead of the 72 it was licensed to carry...Pamela
