Wonderful time to grow up. We spent hours playing with the neighbourhood kids. We were never indoors. We had our cubby houses and always found plenty to do. Houses were never locked. Mr & Mrs Andrew had a farm and we visited them a few times before they finally moved from Yallourn to the farm. Back then, when we had visitors, mum would spend hours preparing supper. It was never just biscuits. This is how it was in those days. The Fitzgeralds were our neighbours at the back and dad and Mr Fitzgerald finished up putting a gate in so that the Fitzgeralds could cut through to visit or go up to the town. My 6th Grade teacher was Mr Allan who lived at 3 Ridgeway West. So pleased to have had the chance to grow up in such a fantastic town. My only regret is that I can't go back to see it.
