I wrote this song back in 1999 thinking about the effect on Yallourn of everyone moving and how i cant really take my Children back now to show them where i was born.

Ghost Town – Billy Bridge 1999
V1:
Look at this place he said as he smiled and shook his head
A young town in an old towns face but it may as well be dead
They built the town ‘cause the work was here now they’ve sold it all away
They don’t understand the sweat and tears, shed along the way.
It’s a ghost town now, oo ooo it’s a ghost town now
V2:
They came along in happier times the old theatre was alive
Sunday morning the church bells chimed, helped us all survive
That was so many years ago, now they’ve sold it all away
In here spirits flowed, now I don’t know why I stay
It’s a ghost town now, oo ooo it’s a ghost town now
M8:
Come along site down and drink it’s not often I can share
The story of our beautiful town so I’ll tell you what was there
Full of life and love it was but they don’t know how it hurts
When they strip it from the boardroom table, in their pressed white shirts
It’s a ghost town now, oo ooo it’s a ghost town now
V3:
You know its not all bad that they’ve taken it away
So many people, made it what it was today
Think ill head off to the sun, sit at the beach and stare
‘cause I know these decisions wont make a difference there
It’s a ghost town now, oo ooo it’s a ghost town now
It’s a ghost town now, oo ooo it’s a ghost town now
It’s a ghost town now, oo ooo it’s a ghost town now
It’s a ghost town now, oo ooo it’s a ghost town now
