When our family increased in size we moved to 8 Parkway Yallourn. It was great as the primary school was at the back of our place. We had the Curls across the road, Brown and Crane next door, Peter and Malcom Roberts just down the road a bit, Bill Devine in Fairfield ave and all the ovals, tennis courts, scout hall and swimming pool close by. The biggest buzz was when the SEC horses started work each morning they used to come past and I would get a ride to the Tech school with Mick and his team.
I was lucky enough to get a paper round which happened to be up coach road and all those hilly streets. I lasted for quite awhile but another opportunity came up selling pies and pasties in the hotel from Mrs Robbies place beside the railway station. It was great and i did enjoy it.
In the mean time girls were coming into the equation plus the family additions increasing it was time for me to start my working life.
So with that I left the town, went to the city and started my apprenticeship and what friends I had made over the years slipped away.
I keep in contact with a couple but I do miss the town for what it was and really in hindsight the decision to destroy it was a bad one
