14th February 1966 - Decimal Currency Conversion Day at the State Savings Bank in Yallourn.
Bank doors were closed for the day and the staff were allowed 'free dress' while they converted all the savings, cheque and business accounts to decimal currency.

The Country Swimming Championships were held at Mildura in 1965. The Gippsland District Swimming Association chartered two planes to fly Gippsland Swimmers to Mildura (from Essendon). The plane in the picture carried the Yallourn Team and Officials and some of the Morwell Team and Officials. The picture was taken by a Mildura Newspaper when we arrived at Mildura Airport. Girls Under 14 Backstroke. Unfortunately the faces are not shown but I am in lane 8. The club carnivals were great events as shown by the crowd of supporters. My family (Wolff) left Yallourn in January 1966 and I really missed the Swimming Club. Although I was in the swimming team at my new school in Geelong nothing was like the Club at Yallourn....Diane Wolff
