Possibly a Christmas excursion/picnic?

I remember this scene from the 1950's. These were the new Australian migrants that had just arrived from Station Pier in Melbourne. They were driven from Melbourne to the Eastern Road Hostel, where they had lunch and were Officially Welcomed to Australia and in particular the State Electricity Commission of Victoria at Yallourn. The new workmen were introduced to their specific Foreman/Supervisor, in readiness for them starting work, they were shown where to report too and how to get there.
The Foremen/Supervisors them accompanied the workers and their families for a tour around the SECV Works Area and the township of Yallourn. The buses all met up in the town square where the Foremen/Supervisors said goodbye and the buses took the families to their new homes in East Newborough. That's the way it happened on 15 September 1950, when my family arrived in Australia.
