Bill was adopted. His sisters lived in Sydney and when they located Bill, they asked if he would like to live with them and he said no thankyou, he was happy in Yallourn. Bill started off as a cleaner at the SEC, then a boiler maker at Hazelwood PS, then an Assistant Unit Controller till he retired. He started YHS in 1943. He moved from 45 Church St to Newborough where he has lived since 1960.
