Looking at the picture and seeing Richard Lambert in it brings back memories. Kevin Dennis (used cars) used to sponsor the 'Wheel" on In Melbourne Tonight. He also sponsored New faces. The major prize was a car (from Kevin Dennis). On one occasion ( I guess it in the 60's), Kevin Dennis was presented with on IMT with a letter from a Richie Lambert from Yallourn - he had saved up 5 pound and wanted to see if he could buy a Car for his father. Kevin Dennis had a great nose for publicity, and saw the opportunity that this would create for him, so he agreed to sell Richie a car for 5 pound. Richie and his Dad (Lyle) were bought down to Melbourne and on IMT presented with a car - from memory it was a Morris Minor. Kevin Dennis was actually Dennis Gowing. Dennis had worked for some time (prior to heading off to greener pastures) as a Bar Man for "Ma" Brown in the Yallourn Hotel. I am pretty sure he knew who the Lamberts were (from his Yallourn connection). Dennis Gowing, for quite a few years, was a member of Moe Golf Club (in the 60's) and used to travel to play Golf on a Saturday in a Rolls Royce. Dennis was a co-owner of the 1985 Melbourne Cup Winner "What a Nuisance". He also owned a number of Restaurants, so I guess we could lay claim to a Yallourn person that did reasonably well for himself.

Also noticed Philip Robertson in the Photo, his brother Stephen's son (Scott) is a Diver and represented Australia at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. He won a Bronze Medal. Susie Baumer who represented Australia at the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984 and Seoul Olympics in 1988 also swam for Yallourn in her earlier days. Her father Rex managed the Moe (Newborough) Indoor Recreation Centre for a few years and Susie swam for Yallourn during their time in the area.
